Step 1: Custom Push Pins with Sugru

Liven up your office space with some custom push pins or thumbtacks! Basically, these came about when little bits of Sugru from other projects were left over. Sugru is a moldable, self-setting rubber, and a little bit goes a long way! If you're using it, think about making these little guys with your left overs, or make a whole batch of them with a mini packet.

Step 2: Materials Needed

1 mini packet of Sugru

9 or 10 thumbtacks

toothpick

Like I said, you can use left over Sugru from other projects, as you just need tiny bits of it. If you're starting from scratch, 1 mini packet can make about 9 or 10 pins.

Step 3: Roll out your Sugru

Sugru is a moldable, self-setting rubber. It bonds to most materials, is moldable like clay, and cures into a sturdy, flexible rubber.

Remove Sugru from the packet and knead it to soften it up a bit. Sugru cures when it is exposed to the air. It will be nicely pliable for about 30 minutes before it begins to harden. Whatever is taken out of the packet will begin to harden at that point. So you may not need an entire packet, but you'll want to have a plan for everything that you unwrap. That's why these are a great option for your little left over bits.

Roll a small portion of Sugru into a sphere about the diameter of your thumbtack head.

Step 4: Shape and decorate your custom pin

Place the sphere on the head of the thumbtack and gently press it into place. Smush the Sugru so that it will bond to the thumbtack, and gently shape the edges as you please. Use a toothpick to create a design on the pin.
